Driving the car to school the other day (my mom lets me drive, wow) my mom said that she was thinking about inviting Derek to live with us, we would build a wall in the middle of the office and make it into a bedroom and office. Just in case I haven't ever talked about Derek, and I don't think I have, I'll tell you a little about him now.
Derek's History with Me:
In 6th grade, right before December, Derek came into the gifted program at SSMS. He was tall, skinny, glasses, and had dark brown/black hair that looked as if someone put a bowl on his head then shaved everything that wasn't under the bowl. Also, he was very smart and pale and had a point upper lip. All of which is still true today.
So on Valentine's Day in 6th grade I walk into homeroom and he has a box of chocolates and a small teddy bear for me. As you could guess, I, being the heartless jerk that I am, took them by whispered "thanks" with an awkward/embarrassed smile. I don't remember much, but I know that Denise (the girl who's kinda pudgy. short and likes to dance) told me I was horrible and that I should have been more grateful.
So from that day on 'till about March of 8th grade, everyone thought that because of me Derek was going to be gay (stupid middle school children). That way of thinking all changed when the 8th grade gifted kids came back from a field trip to the renaissance Fair (courtesy of Mr. Allman). We came back into the classroom and there was a strange girl sitting there. A new student from Volusia County, we quickly became acquainted with Lindsey and probably scared her by our lack of social skills.
By about March (I think) Lindsey and Derek were a couple (it was very disturbing at 1st to think of Derek having gf I'm sorry to say. We all just assumed Derek was the kid who would be smart, "un-cool", not have a gf till college, and make lots of money 'cus of his brain when he graduated.
My mom and Mrs. Clifton take Lindsey, Cayla, and I back and forth to school everyday, so I see Lindsey a lot. She's an awesome Christian. Derek was a sworn atheist in middle school. This year he became a Christian, :-). I apologized for being such a jerk to Derek in middle school.
Now my mom takes Derek to school when he misses his bus, which comes at like 5:20am, because we live so close to him. Derek has a really rough homelife; his mom had had lots of live-in boyfriends, drinks, and his dad left them and doesn't send child support. So my mom has offered that he can live with us (she says he's welcome until he finishes college).
Ok, so what do I think? Well, I wouldn't be thrilled about having to share the bathroom and move out of my room for a bit before we build his room. And it I'd be kinda sad about having to share my car (my 16th birthday present!)-which is hopefully going to be a fire-engine red Cherokee with XM Radio. But if my parents feel God telling them to, I'll be happy to oblige. Besides, it's not putting me out of that much, lots of kids have way worse situations than mine; and Derek will appreciate it, I'm guessing. He hasn't even said yes though; mom just asked him yesterday. BUT, if he doesn't let us (my family) get him so new/better clothes, I will be very perturbed! I'm going to bring hiom to American Eagle and get him 2-3 pairs of jeans, then he can pick out whatever shirts he wants. Oh, and he's getting new shoes too.
Ohmyword, how horrible and materialist do I sound? But seriously, if I'm gonna have a "semi-brother", he has to atleast look like part of the family. Mom said we would treat him like part of the family, and she said that means a $300 clothes allowance at the beginning of the school year. He better spend a lot of it at the mall (I hope!). I know Lindsey agrees with his fashion dilemna, so I'm sure she'll be able to help him and will be on my side of this (my mom is:-p).
I might go to Carolyn's tonight with Warren and paint her room. What's with Carolyn and Warren constantly doing stuff together? Are they going to be, or already, dating? Warren's gonna try to buy The Phantom of the Opera DVD off his tv somehow (don't ask, I don't know how) so we can watch it.
I gotta go now, bye! (Time for lunch; yes, I'm in BST, haha)
P.S.
Lindsey and Derek are still going out.
