Jamaica!!!

Day One, Sunday:
Got there, found out they drove on the other side of the road. Chicken and rice for dinner, yum. Curfew is 10pm, no set bedtime.
Day Two, Monday:
Woke up, breakfast (toast+other stuff) at 8am. Left for worksites around 9am. Had the choice of helping House1, House2, Paint community center, or digging a trench all around the community center for a fence. I chose House2. Mostly 'cus Jack was digging the trench at the community center and House1 had enough people (I didn't want to be distracted by him).
It was fun, we got the foundation laid out the 1st day. Jared, John (islego staff), Mark's dad, Sean Cooper, Kalyn, Cassidy, and Shana. Mikey, an islego staff (Jamaican) helped mostly.
I met Maudry, a Jamaican. She helped me paint the walls and told me some Bible stories. I gave her my adress, I hope she writes me, that would be fun.
Afterwards, at noon, we had lunch and then went to James Bond Falls. It wazs crazy dangerous, hehe. The current was strong and the rough rocks were every where. Lotsa kids (guys and girls) got cut up from falling down the "river." Maria liked to desrcibe James Bond as "blood thirsty waters."
On our walkabout later that night we went into the neighborhood of Steertown and told all the kids we saw that they should come to the community center to hang out ("VBS") with us Tuesday-Thursday.
Third Day, Tuesday:
Painted the walls on the house bright blue. Went back to the villas for lunch (sandwiches). Went to VBS and met Shana, Shazel, and Rasheen (plus others). We helped the kids put beads on string and tied them around their wrists like bracelets. Got my hair braided by some of the girls.
Jack and Andrew sang worship, but Jack's style was hard to follow:(.
Fourth Day, Wednesday:
Roof was up on the house, all's we did was paint the inside walls. I helped Popeye (an Jamaican islego staff) nail in some hurricane saftey things.
Went to lunch, then to VBS (Rasheen and Shazel were there, but Shana couldn't make it). We colored pictures that day with crayons (from coloring books). Daniel, a 10 yr old Jamaican, gave me 2 of his drawings, but I lost them :-(. I really am sad about losing them, hehe. Then the girls braided my hair again.
We went down to the beach most every day and went swimming in the pool, but Wednesday Jack and Jordan G. threw Carolyn (in her clothes) into the ocean. They also threw Alex (in his class) in the ocean...
That night we went in the busses to the local grocery. I got cookies and skittles. I should have gotten icecream and gatorade.

Um, so I'm way to lazy to finish up day by day and I'm just gonna say that Thursday they didn't need me at the house so Shana and I stayed at the Community Center and painted. We painted on the 2nd floor ceiling/arches that had no walls, so to reach them we stood on this SUPER old, SUPER rickety, and SUPER scary old table!
Afterwards we fed lunch to the locals (Jamaican Patties!) and then had some ourselves. Then it started raining. The boys started filling the trench with cement then. Some of the girls wanted to help and so they went outside and carried cement down to the trench. Abby wanted to help also, but she was in a white shirt, so I traded her for my KidsGames shirt.
Sadly, after I traded her my Kidsgames shirt, I wanted to go outside (well, I wanted to go out before that, but I was nice to Abby...). So I asked Mrs Gritter if it was running light enough for me to go out in a white shirt and she said to just take the guys' shirts (they had left them inside 'cus they didn't want them to get wet). She handed me Jack's.
The guys, when they were taking the cement down, ended up getting some of it in their pants.
Uh-oh.....
It ended up drying on their...eh-hems...
Just Jordan's and Andrew's actually, hehe. They were in SOOOO much pain. Poor kids. Makes me glad to be a girl.
Friday we went to the market. The guys either got walking staffs or machetes and most girls got Jewelry -except Taryn, she got some weird masks.
Then we went to Dunns River Falls, it was amazing. We had to hold hands the 1st time we went up (we were led by a guide). I was next to Jack. It was amazing, the waterfalls were sooo beautiful. It was really fun to swim in the CLEAR water.
Saturday there was a soccer tournament sponsored by us for the Jamaicans. Bobby's team won (a Jamaican on IsleGo staff). I got to drink a juice bag, yum!
When we were leaving the tournament, a HUGE semi almost ran into the bus when we were crossing the intersection. The semi had "HOT BLOOD" written across the top of the windshield. It was kinda scary but kinda funny. Btw, the semi stopped (literally) about 6 inches from us. Crazy Jamaica drivers!
Sunday we went home. It was a very sad day. But we had a birthday party for Faith Medina in the airport!
