So the Boca Boys came down this weekend (kids from Boca Raton). Northland (my church) had Student Leadership Training and the Boca Kids came down to join us. The Boca Kids' youthgroup is literally like an evangelical show. Everyone in their youthgroup is a part of the show pretty much. They do martial arts and gymnastics (crazy flippy things and turns and twisties in the air and off of trampolines and over things). So we went to the edgewood ranch (for kids who are....in trouble?). The Boca Boys did their routine and then we all hung out with the kids there. I didn't know when we were supposed to leave, so when I came out, there were no cars, like no Northland cars. I looked around and saw a boca boy and was like "connor! Where is your ride?!". He pointed towards the one last ride home, the equipment truck for the Boca Kids. Danny, who was in the truck, was yelling at Connor to get in. When he saw me, he yelled "are you with northland?!" and offered me a ride, haha.So I almost got left there, but I didn't:-). No one noticed I wasn't on the northland van till halfway back. Driving home with the Boca Boys (5 of them) was a total God-thing. Talking to them, hearing their testimonies, learning why/how their ministry started really got me pumped for God. I got to sit in between Kevin and Connor. Kevin wants to be a firefighter/EMT guy when he graduates Highschool; he's a senior now.
When we went through Downtown Orlando and past Paramore Ave (going back to northland), I told P.K. (Pastor Ken) that it was a kinda "scary" area and how Rudy took us to help clean up a Muslim Mosque down there last year. As soon as I said it, PK was like, "Austin, you know what we need to do?", Austin says "YEAH! Can we go minister there before we leave, PK?! Please?!"
When we got to northland, we all unloaded the Boca Boys' equipment out and into the fellowship hall, where they let us have fun on the trampoline trying to do flips. They taughts us a few things (jump and straddle, front flip over the horse from a tramploline, and roundoff over the hourse from a trampoline). We got to perform it during their show for lugROX. I was so excited that my girls got to see me and my friends do awesome stuff.
Oh, before we left for the juvie place, the Boca Kids' friends, some people from Virginia who drove down to do this with us, led worship. It was so neat. In the middle of songs, they would stop (continuing to play the background music) and ask if anybody had any scripture verses that they wanted to say outloud. Next time they stopped it was prayers in adoration to God, then Thanks to Christ for his sacrifice and some other neat things. It was an awesome wya to worship and it made it so personal. It was amazing.
Oh, btw, the Boca Boys' thing is called Above and Beyond. (we;re called to live above and beyond for God)
