Mr. Sam

I've always known about Sam. He's in the class ahead of me, and as we all know, my old fear of older kids still lingers a bit, so I never talked to him really. Besides, he used to be into the hardcore/drug/metal scene, so we don't have much in common except for that we're both leaders at LugROX.

So I've been hanging out a lot with Sam lately, it's so weird. Like, the last o2 rally, the 7th, I was leaving Northland and ended up walking over to the parking lot with Sam. Before we crossed the road, as he was coming up to me to walk over, we hugged. It was weird though 'cus instead of "tearing" apart, he kept his hand around my waist. I didn't want to seem awkward, so I did the same to him.

So the whole next week or so I didn't think about it, then I saw him at the skating rinkon the 17th and was like "I wonder if he likes me..." 'cus that's what I'm best at, haha. We talked, but not much, actually, we barely talked at all. So I was all like "aw, man, I guess he doesn't..."
Then I went to Monday night I was going to church and saw him walk across to northland as I went in the parking lot. I went into the sanctuary and found his family and sat in the pew in front of him with his lil sister Rachel. So after service I talked to him a bit and got his home #. Then i asked if he was doing anything Tuesday (the next day), and he asked if I wanted to hang out, and I said yes (duh).

So we went to the mall on Tuesday and just hung out. Nothing special. It was a lil awkward considering like the 1st time I had ever talked to him was...December 7th walking to the parking lot. But it was fun asking all those questions like, "what kind of movies do you like?", "Do you like to read?", "What's your family like?", "Do you have any pets?", etc, haha.
So after the mall we go back to my house, watch gremlins ('cus ive never seen it) and then he goes home. Oh, and we didn't actually watch the movie...we talked the whole time, haha, but I still liked it.

Ok, so wednesday night (my 16th Birthday!), about 9pm, I'm driving through sam's neighborhood to get to my friend chris' house. As I'm driving, I realize I'm passing sam's house, so I pull into the driveway and get out to say hi (very sneaky, ames, very). But he's not there it turns out, he's sleeping over at brian's, but his mom invites me in. It's then I find out that his mom was actually my 2nd grade Sunday school teacher! How weird!
So while I'm there, i borrow "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" to watch at Chris', and to bring back the next day when Sam is actually home, haha. I love doing cliche things. I think I actually have a problem with it, haha.

So the next day I call and ask if I can bring it back that day (the next day is today, thursday). His lil sis says it's fine. So I go over and Sam and his dad are home. I return the movie and am like ('cus oh-so-subtle) "so I'm not doing anything today, wanna do something?" and he says yes. We decide to go down to Lake Lily and walk around, but not before we went to get smoothies. Notably, he did not pay for my smoothie. So I was totally convinced that he did not like me still at this point, but I wanted to get to know him in case he ended up being like an awesome big brother.

So we talk a lot about our faith and what God's doing currently in our lives and stuff. Then Taryn calls me and tells me everyone is at her house and they're going to watch Home Alone, so I told her Sam and I would be right there. During the drive over there, Sam says "are you going to Christmas Camp?" -yes, I am- "are you sitting next to anyone for the ride up to christmas camp?" -no, not yet- "do you want to sit next to me?" -um, sure.
-Ok, now there's something you must know about Christmas Camp and the drive up to it. The drive up is normally 2 hours, and it's very important who you sit next to. It's almost like asking someone to Prom, haha. It's either bestfriends, couples, or complete strangers who didn't have any friends to sit by because they're all taken. And this year, the ride up to xmas camp is 9 hours.

So I'm like "oh, maybe he does like me".
When we get to taryn's we hardly talk the whole time we're there. I sit by Chris Hall on the opposite side of the room. I help make dinner. We watch the movie. Then Ben tells me he needs to be home at 5, and chris has just left to give senny a ride home, so I'm the only who can get him home (grr). As I'm leaving with Ben to take him home, Sam comes out and decides to ride along with us (shotgun of course). ("maybe he really does like me")

Oh, and before I took Ben home, I was planning on taking Sam home, 'cus he needed to be back at 5:30 anyways, so it fit right in. But then Senny and I start talking about how I'll take Sam and Ben home and then come back and pick her up and go to Robert's for the movie at his house. Sam, when he overhears this says, "oh, I don't have to be home till about 11 really, if I call and ask, my parents will be fine". So I tell him he can come with us if he wants [ which means sam calls and tells his parents what's going on].

Then we leave for Robert's house. Sam of course rides shotgun. During the movie we sit next to each other, and we don't snuggle, but like, my legs touch his and he keeps playing with my bracelet. He keeps making fun of me 'cus he says it looks like I'm falling asleep. So I definetly know now he likes me.

When we leave Robert's, Carolyn calls shotgun, and when she does, I see Sam's face go from rejected, to annoyed, to normal within about 2 seconds. Senny and Carolyn, of course, don't notice 'cus they were fighting over shotgun, but I was looking forward to Sam sitting shotgun, so I do.

Anways, on the way home, as soon as I drop of Carolyn (Senny's already gone), Sam gets in the front and we go to his house. When I pull in the drive way and wait for him to get out, he says, "wanna come inside for a bit?" so of course I say yes, 'cus I want to see his lil sis (she's sick) and his mom is a sweetheart. Btw, no "bad" things intended when Sam invites me in, at all. I know I'm innocent, but I've grown up around Sam and know the guys he hangs out with, and he knew both his parents were home and up, ok? -Good.

So now I'm totally sure he likes me. And after talking to his parents for a bit, he walks me out to my car and gives me one of the biggest goodnight hugs I've ever gotten, haha. But then again, Sam's pretty big himself, so that might be why. As we're saying g'night and I'm unlocking my car, Sam volunteers then information that he's not doing anything tomorrow and that he wouldn't mind me stopping by. Yay. I'm so excited.
